About SEAMAP: Gulf of Mexico

The Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) is a State/Federal/University program for the collection, management, and dissemination of fishery-independent data and information in the southeastern United States. The fundamental objective of SEAMAP is to provide essential fishery independent data and analyses for evaluating the status of the Nation’s fisheries through the SouthEast Data, Assessment and Review (SEDAR) process, while supporting regional fishery management councils and enhanced requirements of the Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act.
